Vaughn Stuart Nichols
1932-2019
Vaughn Stuart Nichols – age 86, of Morristown, Kings. Co.,
passed away, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, February 5,
2019, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Vaughn was born on
April 2, 1932 in Morristown to the late Stuart and Muriel (Palmer)
Nichols. From an early age through to the end of his life, Vaughn was
a farmer. He began in cooperation with his father, and it was a love
that he also passed on to his children, who are all still farming.
Vaughn’s farming interests ranged from apple and blueberry production
to raising poultry and hogs. He enjoyed finding new ways of doing
things, especially through buying and inventing new equipment. His
pursuit of farming led him to meet his wife, Vivian, with whom he
shared 60 years of devoted married life. In addition to managing his
own growing farm and caring for his family, Vaughn also contributed to
the growth and development of the farming industry in leadership
positions on local and provincial organizations. He also contributed
as a leader at Morristown Baptist Church, where he faithfully attended
his whole life. He was always grateful to have his family around, and
especially cherished time with his grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. Surviving are loving wife Vivian (née
Fuller); his children, Douglas (Marlene) Nichols; Marla (Danny) Gould,
and Craig (Norma) Nichols; grandchildren, Stuart (Julie) Gould,
Robert, Allyson (Ricky) Sawler, Elaine (Willem) Schep, Elizabeth,
Daniel, Samantha, Spencer, Sydney; great-grandchildren, Lilly and
Roxanne Gould. In addition to his parents, Vaughn was predeceased by
his foster sisters, Jennette Wiles and Joanne Hatt. The family would
like to extend their most sincere thanks to Vaughn’s kind caregivers
and excellent staff on the surgical unit at VRH, especially Dr. Colin
Burgoyne for his attentive care in Vaughn’s last days. Cremation has
taken place. Visitation will take place from 6-8 p.m. on
Friday, February 8, 2019 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville.
The funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 9,
2019, in the Morristown Baptist Church, Reverend Chad Clements
officiating. A
reception will be held in the Morristown Community
Centre. Burial will take place
in the Morristown Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the
Morristown Baptist Church or a charity of choice. Funeral arrangements
have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation
Services, Kentville.
