La célébration de
Teresita Guidote (nee Villafranca)
6 août 1935 –
23 février 2019
It is with deep sorrow and pain that we announce the passing of Teresita on February 23, 2019, at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Montreal.
Born and raised in Bacolod City, Philippines, to the late Florencio Villafranca and Perpetua Yulo, Teresita finished her B.Sc. in Nutrition degree from the Philippine Women’s University in Manila and a Post-Graduate in Dietetics program from Harper’s Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.
Teresita moved to Peterborough, Ontario, in the spring of 1963 to accept a position of therapeutic dietitian at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Her kindly manner with the dietary staff helped to promote a happy enthusiasm in the department. She met her husband, Pedro, in Peterborough in the fall of 1963. They were married on October 31, 1964, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Peterborough.
In 1969, Teresita accepted a position as the sole dietitian at the Montreal Neurological Institute and, in 1972, accepted an offer from the Royal Victoria Hospital as Head of the Distribution Center. She held that position until her retirement in 1992.
Teresita leaves behind her husband, Pedro, and their two sons, Peter (Patricia) and Patrick (Gayle) and five grandchildren: Julian, Kiara, Simon, Gabrielle, and Sophia.
She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews in Bacolod, Toronto, California, and New Jersey.
The family extends their gratitude to the staff and caregivers of Mt. Sinai Hospital.
The visitation will be held starting at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 3, 2019, at the Mount Royal Funeral Complex, 1297 Chemin de la Forêt, Outremont. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. on the same day.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Mt. Sinai Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
