Roland Willard Logan
Roland Logan, resident of Rainbow Lake, AB, passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2019, at the age of 51 years.
Roland was born on April 6, 1967 in Grande Prairie, AB. He grew up on the family farm at Clarkson Valley, AB. He attended Ridgevalley School and graduated in 1985. He was a member of the Ridgevalley 4H Beef Club for years. He was also active in sports: slowpitch, volleyball, hockey, skiing and track and field.
After graduation, he apprenticed as an auto mechanic. He ran his own mechanical business for a few years in Rainbow Lake. Later he worked for High Level Truck and Trailer and then Flint Energy Services. At the time of his death, he was managing Eldon’s Transport in Rainbow Lake.
Roland was responsible, loyal, gentle, quiet and compassionate; a true friend to all. He was slow to anger and quick to enjoy a good joke. Nature was his cathedral. He loved to hunt and fish. In recent years, he spent precious time with his granddaughters camping at Rainbow Lake, Spruce Grove and around the province.
Roland married Faye McCaig in September, 1996. He will be sadly missed by Faye; their sons: Mike, Ryan, and Chance; his granddaughters: Kaasia, Lily, Nina and Harmony, their mother Brittany; his parents Willard and Arlene; as well as a large extended family.
He was predeceased by his brother Ryan, cousins Bradley Dyer and Haley Gardener, aunt Laureen Logan, grandparents Harry and Ruth Logan and Norman “Pete” and Alberta Knox.
A Viewing will take place on Sunday, February 10, 2019, from 6:00-8:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 11, 2019, at 1:00pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grande Prairie (10404 102 St.) with Father Leo English C.Ss.R. officiating.
Interment will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at 1:30pm, at Sturgeon Heights Cemetery near Crooked Creek, AB.
Memorial donations may be made to the Grande Prairie Public School District Education Foundation – Nutrition Program (10127 120 Ave., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 8H8).
