ROGER STUPACK
It is with great sadness that the family of Roger Stupack announce his sudden passing, with family at his side, in his 77th year, on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Grace Hospital in Winnipeg.
Roger leaves to mourn his passing, his loving wife of 46 years, Marthe (nee Boily); children Brian (Odilia), Brenda (Keith), Darlene (Matthew); grandchildren Kelsey, Logan, Kevin, Maegan, Caidence and Azrael. Also left to survive are his sister Sally; brothers Gary, Erven and Bernie (Carey) as well as numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. He was predeceased by his parents Anton and Jessie Stupak and brother-in-law Eugene.
Dad was born in Brokenhead, Manitoba on May 22, 1941. He grew up on the family farm where he helped his parents with daily chores. The family later moved to Winnipeg where Dad finished his high school education. He pursued a career in the airline business as a station agent in a variety of different jobs starting in Northern Manitoba with Transair in 1965, then with Pacific Western and Canadian Airlines, moving to different locations along the way. He took his retirement in 1999.
Dad was always willing to help family and friends with their household projects. He enjoyed spending time outdoors at the cottage in Traverse Bay and loved picking berries to share with his family. He loved a good joke and was often coming up with what got to be known in our family and with close friends as “roger-isms”. When younger, he enjoyed taking us to the bush where we cut and hauled wood and picnicked on bologna sandwiches, a favourite of Dad’s his entire life. He always took interest in local and world events, golfing, fishing and spending fun time with his special group of friends. He enjoyed many family vacations and after retirement went on many trips with Mom, including numerous vacations in Puerto Vallarta.
Dad’s grandchildren were very precious to him and he cherished every minute spent with them. He was a long-time parishioner of St. Paul the Apostle Church. Dad will be greatly missed by not only his family but anyone who got to know him.
Many thanks to Dr. Poon, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service and the staff at Grace Hospital for their care and compassion in Dad’s final hours.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 8, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 2400 Portage Avenue, with Rev. Fr. Eric Giddins presiding. Cremation has taken place and Dad will be laid to rest once the weather warms as that is what he would have wished.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
“Dad, you will forever remain in our broken hearts – rest in peace.”
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Roger Stupack January 31 2019..
