Passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, at Woodingford Lodge, Woodstock, on Thursday, February 21st, 2019, in her 90th year. May Sergeant, former longtime resident of Tillsonburg, was born in Gilford, Northern Ireland to the late Lewis Sergeant and the late Mary (Richardson) Sergeant. Former very dedicated faithful member of St. John’s Anglican, the Chancel Guild, and the A.C.W. For years, May was a dedicated secretary for Kennedy Plumbing, Eden, Ontario, and later Fleck Mfg., Tillsonburg.
Survived by loving brother Robert Sergeant of Tillsonburg; and loving sister Doreen Sergeant-Tulloch (James) of North Bay. Predeceased by her sisters Winnifred Sergeant-Watts (1959) and Margaret “Madge” Sergeant-Kennedy (2013); sister-in-law Fay Cupples-Sergeant (2003); niece Laurie Sergeant-Ashford (2008); brothers-in-law Francis “Frank” Watts and Sam Kennedy. Beloved great-aunt-mother to Melanie Watts; aunt-mother to Debbie Watts-Crooker, Brian Watts (Linda), Christine Watts (John), Robert “Bobby” Watts (Laurie), Michael Watts, and nieces and nephews: Judy Sergeant-DeGroote (George), John Sergeant (Rhonda), Carolyn Sergeant-Boughner, Richard Sergeant, Jamie Tulloch (Sally), Janette Winters (Don). Great-nieces and nephews: Janna Crooker-Frystak (Ryan), Jason Crooker (Sarah), Tyler Watts (April), Jeffrey Watts, David Watts (Hayley), Diana Ashford, Terri DeGroote (Mike), Brian DeGroote, Kelly DeGroote (Nick), Tanya Sergeant-Basom (Tao), Tyler Sergeant (Carly), Lisa Boughner (Eric), Jennifer Boughner, Stephen Tulloch (Brynna), Jim Tulloch (Morgan), Jarrod Winters, Krystin Winters, and many great-great nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation for Family and Extended Family is Thursday, February 28, 2019 from 11:30 am to 12 noon. Public Visitation to follow from 12 to 1 pm at St. John’s Anglican Church, 46 Ridout Street West, Tillsonburg, followed by a Complete Celebration of Life Funeral Service at 1 pm, by Rev. Father Osita Oluigbo and Rev. Vermell Stevens. Cremation to follow. Later interment in the Tillsonburg Cemetery.
