Laverne Edith MacPherson
MACPHERSON, Laverne Edith
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Laverne Edith MacPherson, age 83, of Halifax, formerly of Fall River on Friday, February 22, 2019 in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII Health Sciences Centre, surrounded by her loving family.
Laverne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was born on December 3, 1935 to Percival and Rose (Gambino) Metzler. She was the heart and soul of our family.
Mom was a highly respected teacher in the Fall River, Windsor Junction and Lakeview communities for 38 years before retiring in 1991. She taught various grades over two generations, but her favorite grade was primary. It was important to Mom that she taught her students in a way that created enthusiasm for learning, thus setting a solid foundation for future learning and success for her students. Mom classrooms reflected her creativity, and her joy for teaching.
Mom had an adventurous spirit and loved travelling. She could be found zip lining, river rafting, camping and fishing, snowmobiling and four wheeling with family and friends. She travelled in Europe and Asia. She retired in 1991 and enjoyed many happy years travelling with her husband Bill in their RVs in Canada and the USA.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years, James William (Bill); left to mourn her are her loving children Sherry (Brad), Chester; Rick (Joanne), Middle Sackville; Brenda (Stephen), Dartmouth, her grandchildren, Shauna (Neil), Jeremy, Anthony, Meagan; great-grand children, Cole, Kayanna, Gracie, Austyn; sisters, brother in laws, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A service will be held on Monday, February 25th, 2019 at 10:00 am at Saint Rose of Lima Church, 9 Jamieson Dr., Fall River, NS. A private internment will follow at a later date.
We wish to thank the caring health care providers at the Halifax Infirmary 3IMCU and 4.1 for their expert care and kindness.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the QEll Health Sciences Centre Foundation.
Forever in our hearts and thoughts.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Laverne Edith MacPherson 2019..
