It is with heavy hearts that the family of Joseph (Joe) LaFrance of Edmonton announces his passing on January 29, 2019 at the age of 88 years.
Joe is survived by his daughter, Monica: sons, Tim and Joe (Linda); grandchildren, Brayden, (Shauna), Brianne (Jason) and Liam; great grandchildren, Dane and Asher; and sisters-in-law, Cathy and Irene.
Born and raised on the farm at St. Brides, AB, Joe was the eleventh of twelve children. He is predeceased by his wife, Inga; parents, Cyrice and Clarina; brothers, Noel, Charles, Phillip, Omer and Marcel; sisters, Cecile, Soeur Agnes, ASV, Soeur Jeanne d’Arc, SPB and Emma; infants, Therese and Vital; and numerous fondly remembered nieces and nephews.
Throughout his life, Joe demonstrated his enduring faith through his participation as a Director or member of Catholic Charities, The Sign of Hope Campaign, Catholic Social Services. Eucharistic Ministry, Knights of Columbus and as a founding member of Safe House.
Accepting each day as it came, his “joie de vivre” came from the simplest things in life.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb 7 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, 210 Haddow Close, Edmonton, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Immediately following the Mass, a reception will be held in the Church Hall. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes and in recognition of the toll on those affected by Alzheimer’s disease, the family has chosen to support the activities of the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories, 10531 Kingsway Avenue, Edmonton, AB, T5H 4K1
