Hazel Boone 2019

Obituary of Hazel Boone
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Hazel Mary Boone announce her passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Center in Grand Falls Windsor, at the age of 84.
Hazel was born on April 12th, 1934, to parents Lillian Chippett and Wallace Alcock in Leading Tickles. After the death of her mother, she was raised by her loving grandparents, Johanna and Bennett Chippett as a sister to their sons, Fred, Arch, Noah and Alfred. Hazel always recalled stories of her wonderful childhood, being “spoiled” with handmade dresses and the best of everything.
After finishing high school, Hazel began her career teaching school in Leading Tickles and then in Hampton, White Bay. She then trained as a Nursing Assistant and accepted a position at the Sanatorium in Corner Brook. In 1956 she married Rufus Boone and moved to Cottrell’s Cove, where she worked for many years beside him running the family business and raising their 4 children.
Hazel loved to cook and bake and enjoyed nothing more than preparing meals and fancy desserts for anyone who showed up. She especially loved vacation time with family and throughout the years, she enjoyed many trips down South. She was a long-standing member of the Cottrell’s Cove UCW and was the church organist for many years. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her precious children and grandchildren.
Predeceased by her husband Rufus, Hazel leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, daughter Faye (Louis) Hynes and grandchildren, Danika (Luis) and Nick; daughter Dale (Mark Small); son Shaun (Jennifer) and grandchildren, Krista (Eric) and Kerri-Ann (Zach); son Karl and grandchildren, Nathan (Sommer), Brandon, and their mother, Cossette. Also leaving to mourn her sister, Bessie Ward, many nieces, nephews, close family and friends.
Pastor James Martin- Carter will conduct the funeral service from the Grace United Church in Cottrell’s Cove on Sunday, February 3rd, 2019, with interment at the United Church Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hoskins Funeral Home, Bishop’s Falls. Following the service there will be refreshments at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, thanks to the Salvation Army Home League. Pallbearers are sons, Shaun and Karl, grandsons, Nick, Nathan and Brandon and son in law Louis Hynes.
The family would like to extend appreciation to the staff of the Golden Years Estate for the special care given to Hazel during her residency at the Home and to the staff at CNRHC for their support and care during this difficult time. We also acknowledge with deep appreciation the many expressions of love, care and concern.
Donations in her memory can be made to the Grace United Church Memorial Fund.

Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Hazel Boone 2019..
