With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Gary on Thursday January 31, 2019 in his 81st year. After a courageous battle with cancer, Gary lost his fight at St. Peters Hospital with his loving wife and nieces Kim, Brenda and Debbie by his side. Loving husband to Joyce (nee Robertson) for 48 years. Cherished uncle to Debbie, her husband Al and their children Brittany and Chelsea. Survived by brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gary retired from the City of Hamilton’s Traffic Department, with 38 years of service and enjoyed 26 years of retirement. Gary was an avid gardener, and recipient of 19 trillium awards, Tigercat fan and season ticket holder for many years. Many thanks to the Doctors and Nurses at the Juravinski Cancer Centre, C4 Hematology Unit and St. Peters Hospital 3 East Palliative Care Unit. Special thanks to nurse Cynthia who was a great comfort to Gary and the family at the end.
Visitation at Bay Gardens Funeral Home – « William J. Markey Chapel », 947 Rymal Road East, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Saturday February 9, 2019 from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm followed by Funeral Service at 1:00 pm in the Chapel. Interment to happen at a later date. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
