M. Aldene Taylor
M. Aldene
Taylor – Age 77, Belmont, passed away peacefully,
surrounded by her loving family, on February 21, 2019. Born in
Barrington, she was a daughter of the late Lloyd and Kathleen
(Nickerson) Cummins.
Aldene was a member of Trinity
United Church, Upper Onslow, where she was a member of the UCW, former
church secretary of Lower Onslow United Church and Sunday School
teacher. Aldene loved the outdoors, whether she was
gardening, camping at Keji or vacationing
at Sebim Beach. She loved listening to the sound of
the waves, watching the birds and wildlife all while visiting with
family and friends. Aldene was one of the most
generous, kind hearted and selfless people that you would ever meet;
she was always willing to help, teaching by example and showing us how
to be a loving person. She was eager to have grandchildren and loved
all of them dearly.
Being an avid knitter, Mom was ready for
every grandchild with two knit sweater sets…one for a boy and one
for a girl just in case there was a surprise! Regardless of the hour
of the day she was called, she and dad were there to take care of
us. Aldene spoiled all of us with her beautiful
knitting. Every pair of socks Neil wears have been
knit by Aldene. Hats,
mittens, Lopi sweaters, Aldene always
had a project in hand. She also enjoyed other needle arts and created
many beautiful Christmas ornaments that decorate the trees of
her friends and family today.
Aldene is survived by her loving
husband of 57 years, Neil; son, Greg (Tena) Taylor, West Porters Lake;
daughter, Lisa (Jeffrey) Norrie, Lake Loon; grandchildren, Matthew
Taylor, Jarrett Norrie, Zachary Taylor, Shawn Norrie, Lindsay Norrie;
sister, Cheryl (Charles) Kenny, Cape Sable Island/Barrington; brother,
Bill (Diane) Cummins, Clinton, Massachusetts; several nieces and
nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her sister,
Jean Bower.
Special thanks are extended to Mom and
Dad’s neighbours, Nancy and Paul Sulis,
Sheila and Harold Stewart and Leigh McKeigan; you have all
demonstrated the strength of true, life-long friendships and caring
for one another. « Deen » will forever be remembered
by Jason, Leigh and Jamie, Ian for her motherly care and
love.
