Bill passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, December 31, 2018 at the Peter Lougheed Center at the age of 68 years old.
William, who preferred to be called Bill, was born in Toronto Ontario, the first of two sons to Roy and Pat. In 1963 he left Toronto with his parents and brother Don to settle in Calgary. Bill was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 9 but he was able to enjoy life nonetheless. He graduated with distinction from the University of Calgary with a BSc degree in Computer Science. Bill worked for Home Oil and in different areas of Credit Union Central, the most recent being Celero.
He met his wife Linda through a church youth group. They married in 1980 and were blessed with two daughters Laurel and Emily. Bill’s grandsons Ethan and Nolan were the apples of his eye. Later in life Bill learned more about his father’s RCAF service in WWII. This created an intense interest in warplanes, wartime pilots and their stories. He was a proud member of the Bomber Command Museum of Canada in Nanton, Alberta and recently began volunteering at The Air Hangar Museum in Calgary.
Bill was a quiet man with an unexpected sense of humour. He enjoyed puns and anything featuring vehicle chases, crashes or things blowing up or going wrong. He was also a wise man with a deep steadfast faith. He attended St. George’s Anglican Church for many years and was pleased to volunteer in many capacities. He was much loved and respected for his gentle spirit. We are all richer for knowing him and poorer for his loss.
