Sherry Lynn Cain June 5 1956 January 18 2019 (age 62)

Born to Lucy and Sandy Sander June 5, 1956.
Sherry passed away, with the love of her life by her side in the afternoon of Friday, Jan. 18, 2019 after a long battle with cancer. Predeceased by her parents Lucy and Joeseph, survived by brother Ray (Mary Anne), son Ryan (Sarah), grand-daughter Olexa, husband Dick and countless relatives in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario. Sherry was born and raised in Duncan and spent the first 50 years of her life there, before being swept away to Campbell River by the love of her life. She worked for BCFP, Dickie’s Insurance and for many years at Canada Post. She loved delivering mail, meeting people and soon would know you by your address and postal code. She started sewing in high school, graduated to quilting which she loved with a passion and would continue to do until recently.
She moved to CR in 2005 when she married Dick and over the years loved the city, its’ proximity to the water, the views from her back deck and walks along the Old Island Hwy and the spit.
When her pride and joy, son Ryan, married Sarah, she became the loving mother-in-law. She would have to wait a few years but then became the proudest Grandmother to Olexa one could be. Everyone else was invisible when she was around Olexa (whom she lovingly called Tootsie).
Sherry and Dick began spending winters in Casa Grande, where she was very active in the quilt group at the RV Park. She stayed in contact with her fellow quilters and looked forward to seeing them every year. Being the shy and reserved girl that she was (NOT) she made it her mission to know everyone in the park on a first name basis and the name of their dog.
On her 60th birthday she went on a Mediterranean cruise with close friends Glenda and Marie. She talked about the good times for years. She got her motorcycle license and rode her Yamaha 650 in Duncan, CR and later around Arizona. A couple of years a Mazda Miata came into the fold. She was like a kid in a candy shop when she was driving or riding in it.
The year 2018 was not a good year health wise for Sherry and the fight lasted until Jan. 18.
The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr.’s Proctor and Stegeman and all the kind and thoughtful nurses at the Campbell River Hospital.
A celebration of Sherry’s life will be held in CR in the spring, when the weather is better, and she can smile through the sun and blue skies.
Flowers gratefully declined. Donations to Cystic Fybrosis Canada or the CR Hospital Fund would be appreciated.

Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Sherry Lynn Cain June 5 1956 January 18 2019 (age 62)..
