La célébration de
Scott Ashford
14 mai 1954 –
15 janvier 2019
In the early hours of the morning of January 15, 2019, Scott (Sidney) Ashford, aged 64, passed away peacefully after a very short but courageous battle with cancer.
Originally from Verdun and a longtime resident of Hudson, Scott loved hot summers, year-round barbecuing, the opportunity to mentor or lend a hand, and beautiful St. Maarten. In his last days he dreamt about being in his home away from home and wished he could have gone one last time. Scott served our country as an Air Force navigator for over a decade and then continued a career in aviation and information technology.
Scott spent the last third of his life caring for his late parents, which had a profound impact on him. He was forever grateful to his cherished godmother Auntie Eileen (Ashford) Martin who was always appreciative of how Scott helped his father through his difficult times, and to the late Father George Oakes who provided Scott with the counsel he greatly needed. God knew Scott could not heal on his own, so He called him home to Heaven to bring him peace, and to heal what could not be healed in the world we know.
Scott is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, Liane (McCrea) Ashford; three daughters Katina (Sean), Tiffany (Corey) and Crystale (Charlie); beloved sister Coleen (Dennis); niece Cindy (Dexter); and nephew Michael (Tisha). He was “Gruncle” Scott to Carys, Everleigh, Liam, and Olive. He will be remembered fondly by his “fourth daughter” Vanessa, sister from another mister Sue, and brothers from another mother Bill and Grant, along with special neighbours and friends throughout the years that loved and supported him. As one of them recently said, “Scott reminded all of us that not all is lost in humanity.”
A special thanks to Dr. Victoria Mandilaras and the amazing staff of oncology and 4 West of the Lakeshore General Hospital, and Dr. Andreea Iancu, Dr. Annick Terret-Hans, and the loving and caring staff at the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Palliative Care Residence for their compassion, support and guidance during his final days.
The family is greatly touched by the condolences and outpouring of support during this difficult time and kindly asks in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Scott’s name to the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Palliative Care Residence Foundation. In Scott’s honour, please be sure to:
Enjoy and live a harmless lifestyle,
be kind to others,
help those in need,
be supportive of each other,
ask for forgiveness for the hurt you may have caused,
forgive the hurt that was done to you,
hug and cuddle each other each and every day.
