Polly Leniuk
October 14, 1930 – January 22, 2019

Polly was born October 14, 1930 to Wasyl and Katherine (Kowalchuk) Fofonoff. Polly and her brother, Fred, were raised on the family farm south of Buchanan, SK. Polly attended Buchanan School, where she completed her grade seven education. A hard-working girl, Polly obtained employment at the restaurant and Windsor Hotel in Buchanan, SK. She also continued to help her parents on the farm. On July 12, 1949, Polly married Adam Leniuk and moved to the Leniuk family homestead, south of Rama, SK. Together, they were blessed with six children. Polly and Adam farmed until Adam passed away in July 1998. In addition to raising her family, Polly’s days were filled with farm responsibilities such as milking cows, making cottage cheese and butter, baking bread and making preserves. As well, she always maintained a lovely, large, bountiful garden. For many, many years, Polly supplied her children with soups, perogies, cabbage rolls and sauerkraut. She loved and cherished her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Polly remained an active member within her community and helped at the curling rink. Strong in her faith, she loved the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and enjoyed time spent in prayer and was dedicated to performing many church duties. On September 14, 2010, Polly celebrated her move to Park Place in Canora, SK. She thoroughly enjoyed her visits, giggles with the ladies and the sharing of many life stories. In November 2013, Polly relocated to the Invermay Health Centre, where she enjoyed many activities with the residents. Music was a great comfort to her soul. Polly always had a warm smile when greeting her care givers and she greatly appreciated their time, energy and compassionate care in meeting her needs. Polly will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace and her memory be eternal. Polly was predeceased by her husband, Adam; parents, Wasyl and Katherine; sons, John and Wasyl, in infancy; parents-in-law, John and Jennie Leniuk; sisters and brothers-in-law: Mary (Peter) Sawick-Zulak, Annie (Steve) Jones, Carolyne (Tony) Dennis and Patsy (Joe) Loshka.
She is survived by her sons, Ron (Pat) Leniuk and Don (Lois) Leniuk; daughters, Sonia (Dave) Starling and Carol (Russ) Madarash; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and her brother, Fred Fofonoff (Mary Shuparsky); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, January 27, 2019, and the Funeral Service continues at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 28, 2019, both from the Chapel of Leson’s Funeral Home, Canora, SK, with
