Olga Szabo (Zadorozny) passed away in her sleep on January 29 in Westmount, with her family around her.
Thinking they still had a lot more time together, her quick departure left a real emptiness behind for those closest to her: her daughter Kathy, her son-in-law Joe, and her grandchildren Amelia and Sophia.
Predeceased by her husband Andras, and by several brothers and sisters, she will be mourned by her surviving brothers and sisters and their families, as well as her extended family through marriage and deep friendship (Szabo, Martucci, Iasenza, Weicht, Tomiuk). She will also be deeply missed by her friends, neighbors and caregivers whose help and support, especially in her later years, she so appreciated.
Olga was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her daughter and granddaughters and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Granny and Nanny Ogi. Olga lived a full life as a wonderful mother, homemaker and childcare provider. She helped raise so many children, bringing love, play, values, and happiness into their lives. She just had a way with children, making eliciting everyone’s best behavior all the time seem effortless. She was just able to get everyone to WANT to do the right thing. Without any fuss. Because she led by example and always did what she did with love.
She loved to cook her specialties, kept an immaculate house, was highly skilled with sewing needles as well as a lawnmower and paint brush. She enjoyed her outings – an explorer who loved to roam all corners of her city, even late in her years. A country girl at heart, nature was a passion for her, with walks in the woods her favorite thing to do…
Please join us in celebrating Olga’s life. Visitation will be held Friday, February 1, from 2 to 5 and from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, February 2 from 9:30 to 10 a.m. at the:

The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 2 at 10 a.m. at the same place, and afterwards to the burial plot on the same grounds at Mount Royal Cemetery, with a reception to follow at Pizzaiole (1275 Dunkirk in TMR).
