Michael Wade
It is with great sadness and profound grief, wife Shirley of 60 years, children Brenda (Orest), Carol (Murray), Judy (Ted), Doug, Kathy (Mike), 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, sister Joan (Robert), and brother Peter (Joan) said our goodbyes to Michael Wade on Sunday, January 20, 2019. Michael passed away peacefully.
Son of William and Mary Wade of Thornhill. Born in Toronto (his mom claimed March 29th but his birth certificate said March 30, 1931). His career started with delivering groceries during the war. Next job was maintaining the Anglican church property inside and the grounds outside with his sister, Joan. He also worked on the Thornhill golf course. He apprenticed with a builder in Thornhill before he decided to work for himself. He has had a accomplished career building houses, schools, churches, factories, apartment buildings, hotels, fairgrounds and subdivisions from Toronto to Hwy. 17. He spent a few years as a hobby farmer until he turned the property into Maples of Ballantrae Golf Course. This began his 37 years of building and operating golf courses: Maples of Ballantrae Lodge and Golf Course, Pines of Georgina, Oaks of Cobden, with two courses in the Bancroft area; MartinWood Resort and Golf Course, Rivers Edge Golf Course. He most recently completed Quinte Hills Golf Course, which he operated until the end of this season. Mike loved travelling the world sometimes with family and freinds. He has passed on his love of travel to his children. His keen sense of humour and twinkle in his eye, kindness and generosity have spread joy to all who have known him. He will be missed now and forever by his family, but his love will be forever felt always
