Obituary for
Michael Horodelski
Peacefully on December 30, 2019 after a lengthy struggle with cancer. He was in his 77th year.
There was no man more optimistic than Mike nor anyone who loved life more. It showed up in everything he did and passion and hobby he pursued. The list was endless – swimming, scuba diving, horses, the hunt, polo, boating, the motorcycle, public speaking with Toastmasters, writing, reading, travel. He loved his career as a technical writer. Even during the early years of his cancer diagnosis and various surgeries he kept his sunny personality and gentlemanly ways. Rarely an angry word. Always a compliment. He knew everyone’s name and was interested in what and who they were. But the real story was the love of his life, Marilyn. Together for 56 years, married for 51, they were perfect helpmates. She was his angel, he her rock. The horses, the hunt, the boat, the dogs, the travel, they were a force together. She will miss him most. He is survived by his brothers Bill and Russell (Josie, John) and sister Frances (Tony), brothers-in-law Bill Johnston (Dee) and Ron Johnston (Lillian), numerous nephews and nieces, godchildren and friends. He was predeceased by his sister Joan Holmes (Wayne), mother Jessie and father Nick.
Friends may call at the MARSHALL FUNERAL HOME, 10366 Yonge Street, Richmond Hill. On Saturday January 5th at 2 pm for visitation. Memorial service to follow in the funeral home chapel at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, give blood. Alternatively, donations would be appreciated to the Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Kidney Foundation or your local SPCA.
