Passed away peacefully on January 2, 2019. Mary is lovingly remembered by her children Jane (Bruce), Martha (deceased), Mark (Karen), and David (Melissa), step-children Jacque (Tim) and Greg (deceased) (Loretta), also her grandchildren James (Nicole), Ann, John, Holly, Sean, Thomas and great-grandchildren Will and Eli. Mary is survived by her sister Ellen (Murray) and brother Bryan (Diane). She is predeceased by her first husband Jim (1979) and second husband George (2006).
Mary was born on June 16, 1926 and at a young age, discovered a joy for singing. She took lessons throughout her life starting first at Melrose United Church in Hamilton and completed her ARCT while looking after her four very busy and active children. Mary performed with the Oshawa Chorale Society, Oshawa Symphony, and was a soprano soloist at several local churches. She taught private singing lessons in Dryden, Oshawa and Hamilton and adjudicated music festivals throughout Ontario. Following her marriage to George, she moved to Los Angeles, and they enjoyed travelling and the cultural life of the city. Donations to Medical Ministry International, mmi.org.
Visitation will be held at Marlatt Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (615 Main Street East, Hamilton) on Wednesday January 9 from 7-9 pm and Thursday January 10 from 10-11 am. Memorial service on Thursday January 10 at 11am.
