Obituary of June Richardson
RICHARDSON, June Evelyn – June Evelyn (Barkhouse) Richardson passed away peacefully during the early morning of January 7, 2019 at Beaverlodge Municipal Hospital in Beaverlodge, Alberta. Born in Moncton, New Brunswick on June 27, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Cameron Barkhouse and the late Mary Leaman. She was one of eight children; two of whom survive, Reta and Ronald.
June was a member of the Rebekah Lodge for many years and, while living near Bridgewater, after she and her husband Murray Richardson retired and relocated from Ontario, she joined the Thursday Morning Coffee League Bowlers in Bridgewater which gave her a lot of joy and good exercise. Her other pastimes included baking (doughnuts, molasses cookies and gumdrop cakes were her specialties) reading, quilting, watching the many hummingbirds that visited her feeders and knitting. Over the years she made dozens and dozens of mittens and toques that she gave away as gifts and others that ended up on “Knitten-Mitten Trees” during the Christmas Season for distribution to those in need. The intricate patterns and details were beautiful. June’s second husband, the late Murray Richardson, passed away in their 50th year of marriage. It was after Murray’s death that she moved to Alberta where she lived for a time with her daughter, Sheila, in Bezanson, and then moved to Beaverlodge last July where she resided at Amisk Court Senior Citizens Apartments. She is predeceased by her husband, Murray, and one daughter, Sharon June Baker. She is survived by her children, Dianne (Lloyd) Swinemar, Douglas (Janice) Baker, Alan (Jill) Baker, Sheila Scott, Keith (Susan) Richardson and two step-children, Terry (Betty Byrne) Richardson and Wendy (Peter) Vigna. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A public graveside service will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, June 27, 2019. Memorial donations in June’s name may be made to a charity of your choice.
And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de June
