Douglas J. « Buddy » Brine
It is with great sadness that we
announce the passing of Douglas John « Buddy »
Brine, 65, of River Hebert at the Cumberland Regional
Health Care Centre on Saturday January 19, 2019. Born in
Amherst, Buddy was a son of the late Douglas and Verlie (Berry)
Buddy was an avid fisherman and hunter
and looked forward to spending time in the outdoors. He
enjoyed the view of the Bay of Fundy from his home in
Joggins. Buddy was devoted to his family, who meant a great
deal to him.
He will be sadly missed by his siblings,
Dianne (Hollis) Cole, Pugwash, Edward (Cathy) Brine, Edmonton, Barbara
(Kevin) Hoeg, Joggins, Joyce (Jeff) Greer, Coldbrook, Lorna (Dara
Legere) Terrio, Joggins, Sandra (Mike McClary) Brine, Amherst, Anthony
(Scott Mills) Brine, Memramcook, Kelley Hurley, Fenwick, Michael
(Janet Porter) Brine, Nappan, and Kim Brine, Old Barns, NS; his sons,
Douglas Hurley, Amherst, and Scott McEachern, Amherst, as well as
several nieces and nephews and his special cat
Besides his parents, Buddy was
predeceased by a sister Donna Reid; a brother-in-law, Desi Hurley, and
a sister-in-law, Sam Gilbert.
Arrangements are under the care and
supervision of Furlong~Jones Funeral
Home, 70 Church Street, Amherst
(902-667-8777). Honouring Buddy’s wishes, cremation has
taken place. There is to be no visitation or services at
this time. A graveside service will be held at the St.
Thomas Aquinas Cemetery, Joggins, at a later date.
Donations in memory of Buddy may be sent
to Cumberland County Palliative Care.
