Carlos Isidro Garrido died unexpectedly on April 21, 2018 at the age 67 while working at his mechanic shop.
Carlos was born on November 7, 1950 in Santiago, Chile and was one of 12 children born to Eloisa Oyarzun Marambio
and Jose Garrido Araos. On November 4, 1968, he was married to Fresia Araya Cerda with whom he shared almost
50 years of marriage. He welcomed 5 wonderful children who blessed him with many grandchildren and great
grandchildren over the years.
Carlos spent the early part of his life in Chile and was forced to come to Canada during the Pinochet years after spending
almost 5 years in prision due to political reasons. After his arrival in Canada, Carlos studied hard to learn English and find
a job to support his family. He started off doing construction house renovations and later went on to mechanics.
He spent over 30 years doing mechanics and worked hard every single day of his life to provide the best life he possibly
could for his family always.
In his early years, Carlos was a very talented musician and tennis player. His favorite foods included all kinds of seafood
(especially deep-fried fish), barbequed meat of all kinds, chicken wings, wonton soup and pepsi. He loved taking road trips
to Vancouver every year to visit his dear family and friends and would make it a point to stop at English Bay, through rain
or shine. His especial talent was being able to fall asleep anywhere,anytime, any place!
He had an amazing sense of humor and loved to spend time joking with loved ones. He also had a tremendously soft heart
and did whaterver he could to help anyone if they were ever in need. He was a loving and devoted father who was there
every single time his family needed him. He will be missed by his friends, family and all those who loved him.
Carlos is survived by his wife Fresia Garrido in Edmonton, AB., his children Fresia Garrido-Olivos and spouse Ricardo Olivos,
Carlos Garrido and spouse Deborah Gallacher, Pablo Garrido and spouse Patricia Larose, Luis Garrido and spouse Tamara Dixon-Garrido,
and Roxanne Garrido; his grandchildren Tony and spouse Karla, Alex, Alyssa, Tristan, Tessa, Victoria, Christopher, Trinidy, Mateo,
Drew, Caylub and Alexis; his great-grandchildren Victor, Anabella, Daniella, and Mason; his siblings Jorge, Jose, Yaconda, Eloisa,
Patricia, Carmen, Pablo, Santiago, Elsa and Francisco; his many nieces and nephews and many friends he met over the years and
held dear to him; and his beloved dog mono.
He is predeceased by his mother Eloisa Oyarzun Marambio, his father Jose Garrido Araos, and his sister Virginia Campos.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation an hour prior to Funeral; at Park Place Funeral Home,
