YOUREX, Vera Gladys
September 14, 1929 – August 21. 2018
It is with great sadness that the family of Vera Gladys Yourex of Calgary, Alberta, announce her passing on August 21, 2018 at 88 years of age. Vera was born in Shaunavon Saskatchewan, September 14, 1929 to Roberta and William (Bill) Bruce of Admiral, Saskatchewan. Vera grew up with two wonderful sisters Eunice (Curly) and Nesta (Earl) who had all pre-deceased Vera.
In 1953, Vera married her husband Glen in Swift Current, Saskatchewan while training to be a Lab Technician.
She received her certificate in 1954 from the Canadian Society of Laboratory Technologists. Vera and Glen later moved to Alberta and started a family in which she was blessed with 4 loving children. After her husband’s death in 1981, Vera started working at Sears Canada in which she held many positions. Vera retired from Sears in her 60’s which enabled her to do more activities that she loved like traveling, visiting with friends and family (especially in Saskatchewan), and spending time with her grandchildren. Vera was a long time member of Renfrew Untied Church and was a member of the UCW for many years. Tragically, Vera lost her daughter Brenda to heart disease in 1994. In her 70’s, Vera started suffering with Alzheimer’s but was strong enough to stay in her own home until her 80’s. She then moved to Walden Heights Senior Community, where she spent the remainder of her days. After a long struggle with Alzheimer’s she passed away peacefully with family by her side.
Vera will be lovingly remembered by her children, Bruce (Bonnie), William (Julie) and Barbara, her treasured grandchildren, Heather (Dave), Curtis (Romy), Greg, Warren, Laura,Travis (Jody) and Melissa (Dean) and her 6 Great Grandchildren, Addison, Sawyer, Oliver, Finn, Ruby and Ava. Vera will also be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, past neighbors and friends.
Friends and family are invited to a service which will be held
at Renfrew United Church, 956 Radnor
Avenue N.E., Calgary, Alberta at 10:30 am on September 4th, 2018
with Pastor Gary K. Grottenberg
officiating and a luncheon in the church hall to follow.
An interment will be held at 2pm the same day at Mountain View
Memorial Gardens, 1515-100 Street S.E., Calgary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to
the Alzheimer Society of Canada, 20 Eglington
Avenue West, 16th Floor, Toronto, Ontario, M4R 1K8
or Renfrew United Church.
