REID: Winnifred “Joy”
Mom passed away peacefully on December 5, 2018, at the age of 87 years, with her loving family by her side, after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer.
She will be missed by her children Ian (Helen), Sherri and Hugh; her grandchildren Arlen, Adrienne and Jody; and her great grandchildren Emily, Lexi, Lainy, Slade and Gage. Mom was predeceased by her husband Andrew Reid; parents, William Bruce and Blanche Minary; and brothers Lloyd Bruce and Robert Wilfred Minary. She is survived by her children Ian (Helen), Sherri and Hugh; her brother Allison (Doreen); and sister Nadine Hayes.
Mom grew up on the family farm and worked at the Wawanesa Mutual where she met her husband, Andy, who was a Corporal in the army and was stationed at Shilo. They were married on March 30, 1951 at Brandon, MB.
In her younger years, she loved camping with Dad and her dear friends, Ralph and Carol Gara. She shared hours of laughter with her lifelong friend and sister-in-law, Doreen. She loved her family and friends deeply and leaves behind beautiful memories.
The family would like to thank family members and friends who supported Mom during her illness. Special thanks to the medical staff at the Brandon Palliative Care ward who provided such wonderful care and support.
A graveside memorial service will be held at the Minnewawa Cemetery in the spring.
