On October 17, 2018, Brian Joseph Williams passed away peacefully in London ON after a seven-year struggle with Alzheimer brain disease. The immediate family appreciate the support of families and friends and the caring staff of peopleCare Oakcrossing Long Term Care Facility, the Alzheimer Society of London & Middle and the McCormick Day Program. Brian was born on March 20, 1938, in Bay Roberts NL. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Marcella (Lee) Williams and his brothers John (Joan) and Terry. His entertaining personality will be etched in the memories of his wife, Violet (Reis), daughter Aindrea (Roy) Cramp, grandson William and his twin sister Peg (Art) Gilbert. Also mourning his loss are his other siblings: Kathleen (Dick) Akerman, Clare Walker and Kevin Williams and Aunt Alice (Mike) Finn. He will be deeply missed by members of the Reis family who will never forget him. Brian was a radio operator with the Canadian government for 35 years. He was trained in Morse code and radio systems in St. John’s NL and in weather at the Toronto airport. He worked in marine and air-ground communications, monitoring and radio inspection in Camlachie, Windsor, Ottawa, Kingston and Almonte in Ontario and Port Harrison and Great Whale on Hudson Bay in Northern Quebec. He loved his ham radio, fishing, salt water swimming, walking and talking, crossword puzzles and travelling especially in Canada, Ireland and Germany. In retirement he was employed caring for cats in private homes when owners were away and was a volunteer driver for the Nepean Home Support Services and Hospice of London. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 21st from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, where the funeral service will be held on Monday, October 22nd at 10:00 am with visitation one hour prior. A reception will follow. Interment will take place at Woodland Cemetery, 493 Springbank Drive. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Brian are asked to consider the Alzheimer Society of London & Middle, 435 Windermere Road, London ON N5X 2T1.
