OBITUARY
William Shane Griffey
March 6, 1958 – March 14, 2018
Shane’s parents, William (Bill) Griffey and Catherine (Kay) Griffey raised Shane and his 5 siblings, Wade, Pam, Warren, Sandy and Debbie, in Sidney BC. Shane married, Joanne, at the age of 19. Shane and Joanne, shared a rare bond and love that lasted Shane’s lifetime and is only found by few. They did everything together and Shane expressed great pride in his marriage to Joanne.
Shane and Joanne had two children, David and Heidi. Shane and his son David, were co-owners of Griffey’s Electric and Shane loved working collaboratively with his son. In his final days he could be heard expressing how proud he was of his son’s work in the company and his character in general. It was Shane who connected David with his partner and love, Michelle, whom also feels an immense loss at this time.
Shane’s daughter, Heidi, adored her father and they shared a tremendous bond. The two of them simply loved one another and life and shared similar characteristics that enabled them to effortlessly enjoy their moments together.
Shane had a large family as all his siblings married and had children. Shane greatly cherished his auntie Mildred and his many in-laws, nieces, and nephews on both the paternal and maternal family sides. Furthermore, Shane adored his friends and it is clear by anyone who has witnessed his life how much his friends adored him (you know who you are).
Shane always loved sports and as a young adult seemed to effortlessly succeed at soccer and baseball. Shane’s passion for sports remained throughout his life and he continued playing baseball and could always be found watching NFL football, with his wife and friends. “Go Bears!” Overall, Shane loved life and a tender heart which he openly shared and expressed through laughter and tears.
