William « Roy » Bissett
Bissett, William “Roy”, age 100, of Cole Harbour/Dartmouth, passed away on March 18, 2018 at Camp Hill Veteran’s Memorial Building, QEII.
Born in Cole Harbour, he was a son of the late James and May (MacDonald) Bissett.
Roy served in the 3rd Medium Regiment of the Royal Canadian Artillery in World War II with postings in France, Holland and England. When he returned to Canada, he worked as a civilian bus driver with DND for many years. He was a member of the Church of St. Andrew where he served as a warden and as treasurer in the early years. He enjoyed bowling on the St. Andrews Holy Spirit Bowling Team. Roy always had beautiful flower gardens and loved spending time farming vegetables.
He volunteered several times with the Dartmouth Natal Day Committee and was a member of the Dartmouth Seniors Centre. He was a kind, soft-spoken family man.
He will be dearly missed by his daughter, Wendy (Greg) Beaver; 4 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews.
Roy was predeceased by his wife Evelyn (Walker); and all of his siblings.
Visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Tuesday March 20th in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth. The funeral service will take place at 1pm on Wednesday March 21st in the funeral home chapel, Rev. Katherine Bourbonniere officiating. Reception to follow. Burial in St. Andrew’s Anglican Church Cemetery.
