William « Bob » Robert Sturgeon
August 10, 1940 – October 4, 2018

William Robert Sturgeon, affectionately known as Bobby, Daddy and Grandbobby, passed away peacefully on October 4th 2018. Born on August 10, 1940 in Doaktown New Brunswick to Tom and Katherine (Carroll) Sturgeon, Bob spent his childhood years living on the Miramichi River.
Following his graduation from Doaktown Consolidated High School (1958), Bob went West to start his lifelong career with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. A proud member of the RCMP, Bob joined the Force April 1, 1959 and retired April 1, 1995. He was an admirable career man who served with honor and dedication. His family has many pictures of him proudly wearing his favorite RCMP chapeau.

Lovingly remembered by many, he was especially adored by the three main ladies in his life. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Joyce (Stevenson), daughters Tiffany (son-in-law Chad (DJ) and granddaughters Jordyn and Abigail) and Candace (Peter and grandchildren Madison, Wyatt, Joey and Piper).

Born: August 10, 1940 Death: October 4, 2018

He was an energetic funny guy who loved his family with all his heart and wasn’t afraid to show it.
Many hours were clocked on the road over the years whether it was driving his girls to swim practice or competitions, family vacations to Wasaga Beach and Melbourne Fla, or hopping in his truck and driving south to see his grandbabies, Bob would do anything for his family.
He was our rock who could fix anything, give the best advice, and listen without judgement. He was always going out of his way to make his family feel special.
When the girls were young he would get on the roof on Christmas Eve and make « reindeer tracks » and decorate the house with so many lights it was a sight to see. Anything to see his girls smile.

My sweet man fought hard during his battle against cancer, he never

gave up and lived every day with a will to survive.
Most did not know much about his diagnosis or his fight because he would always tell you he was « never better. »
He made the choice to live every single day with a smile on his face and not let the disease beat him. His family urges everyone reading this to have compassion for others. Sometimes you do not know the quiet fight someone may be fighting, a smile or a kind word could make all the difference on a difficult day.
Bob’s final days were spent at Hospice House Fredericton. The family wants to say thank you to ALL of the wonderful nurses and staff that cared for him with love and provided him comfort. He told them every single day how happy he was to be there and was at peace. An additional thank you to the HUGE wellness team that spanned 19 plus years of care. A statement from a dear friend truly exemplifies the man we LOVE: « He was an admirable man, a true gentleman, loving husband, adoring father, father-in-law and doting grandfather ».
The family will honor the request of no visitation or funeral service.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice House Fredericton, 621 Churchill Row, Fredericton, New Brunswick, E3B 1P5. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com

Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de William Bob Robert Sturgeon 2018..
