It is with deep sorrow that we announce the loss of Wes Pfeifer after his battle with Parkinson’s disease. Wes passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on the evening of Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at the South Health Hospital at the age of 84 years. He was predeceased by his parents John and Emma Pfeifer, sisters Marjorie and Irene, and brothers Ken and Vernon.
Wes is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Margaret. Wes is also survived by his children; Brenda Scott (Stuart) and Jeff Pfeifer (Kelly); grandchildren Joel Schertiger, Jarred Schertiger, Layla Scott, Chad Pfeifer and Bryn Pfeifer; great grandchildren Corbin Schertiger and Leah Huculiak. Wes is also survived by his brother Dayle (Adell) of Saskatoon and numerous nieces and nephews. Wes and Margaret began their journey first in Saskatoon, then on to Prince Albert and finally settling home in Calgary. Being from a large, loving close family, Wes was instilled with values that he naturally and quietly passed on to his kids and grandkids and he delighted in watching those kids and grandkids grow.
Wes was employed as a teacher in Prince Albert and Calgary for 37 years with a focus and passion for social studies. He was always delighted when a past student would reach out to him and say hello. Wes and Marg were fortunate to be happily retired for 25 years spending time between Calgary and their special cabin in the woods at Idabel Lake, BC fishing and relaxing with their kids and grandkids in tow. It was always an adventure to go to Nan and Pa’s cabin.
While Wes has left us physically, we can find comfort in the ongoing lessons he taught us in his quiet way. He has left us a legacy of kindness and compassion. His kindness was contagious, his love was unconditional.

At Wes’ request no funeral services will be held.
