Wallace Keith
1923-2018
With deep sadness, the family of Wallace
Almer Keith of The Glades and formerly of Havelock, announces his
passing. Wallace’s 95 years of a life well lived, ended
peacefully on June 9, 2018, at the Jordan Lifecare Centre. He will
lovingly be remembered for his quiet demeanour, quick wit, blue eyes
and « those dimples » which were so much a part of him right
up to his final days.
Born on March 28, 1923, in Kinnear
Settlement, NB, he was the son of the late Uz Chipman and Florence
Marie (Plume) Keith. A devoted husband of 67 years to the late Doris
(Leaman) Keith.
Wallace leaves to mourn his sons,
Richard (Joan), Ron, Dale (Heather); daughters, Patricia MacLeod
(Rick), Marlene Keith, Judy Keith (Mark); daughter-in-law, Carol
Keith; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece,
caregiver and friend, Betty Keith. He will be deeply missed
by his grandchildren Steven, Bryan, Michael, Megan, Teri-Lynn, Scott,
Nick, Jeff, Jason, Marcy, Shayna, Zack, Deanne, Tim, Melissa,
Brittany, Lucas, Ryan and Melodie as well as 21 precious
great-grandchildren.
He was the oldest and last surviving
member of his immediate family. In addition to his wife, he was
predeceased by his beloved sons, Larry (1987) and Roger (2004);
sisters, Idella Harvey, Rilla Charlton; brothers, Everett, Francis and
daughter-in-law, Heather (Broad) Keith.
Wallace signed up for military service
at the age of 16 and served overseas with the
8th Hussars Regiment. He was a member of the
Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 86. He began working at the Canada
Cement Lafarge during the plant construction in 1951 and retired after
35 years of service.
Wally and his loving wife Doris, lived
happily on Powell Hill where they raised eight children. He dearly
loved living on the hill amongst his family, friends and neighbours.
In his younger days he enjoyed playing baseball on the local community
teams. He followed major league baseball and the NHL; a devoted Boston
Bruins fan. If there was not a hockey game or ball game to
watch, Wallace could be found tapping his toe to good old classic
country music. He always looked forward to his annual hunting trips to
the camp with friends. Most of all, he loved spending time with his
family and sharing stories of the bygone days of life in Havelock. The
details he could recall were astounding……storms,
wages, the price of goods and services, car and tractor motors, who
lived where and who was related to who!
The family would like to send a
heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Jordan Lifecare Centre for taking
such wonderful care of Wally over the past year.
Resting at Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350
Route 106 (372-4800) visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, June 12th
from 2:30-4:30 and 6-8. The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 86,
Havelock, will be holding a tribute service at the funeral home,
Tuesday at 5:45 pm. A private family graveside service will
take place at Maplewood Cemetery on Wednesday, June
13th.
If desired, memorials to the Jordan Lifecare Centre
or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by
the family.
