OBITUARY
Wallace Andrew Robson
July 3, 1937 – July 30, 2018
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wallace Robson, our amazing husband, father and papa in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 81 years, after a courageous final battle with cancer.
“Wally” was born on July 3, 1937 in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan, moving to Calgary as a teenager where he fell in love with sports and later his wife of 57 years, Sharon. Wally loved all sports and dedicated countless hours to coaching baseball. He was still coaching well into his 70’s! In connecting with those he coached and elsewhere, he always endeared himself to those he met.
As much as Wally loved sports, he loved his family even more. His wife Sharon, daughters Kari and Lori and son Kevin were his ultimate team. His grandchildren, Sarah, Matt and Aaron brought him so much joy. He spent many hours watching and advising on the soccer field and gazing adoringly at dance recitals and competitions.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon; his two devoted daughters, Kari Robson (Rob), Brandon and Dylan and Lori Elphick (Ray); grandchildren, Sarah, Matt and Aaron; brother, Jim Robson from Vernon; brother-in-law, Reg Gerlitz (Giselle); nieces, Danielle (Raenell) and Nicole (Jason) Adison James; as well as sister-in-law Sharron Robson, Caleb (Susie), Kathleen and Jodi (Michael).
He was predeceased by his cherished son, Kevin in 1991. We find great comfort in knowing they are together once again. He was also predeceased by his mother, Alfreda; father, Wesley; and brother, Bill.
The family would like to thank all of our amazing family and friends for their help through this difficult time. We would like to thank Dr. Dina and the nurses and caregivers at the Chinook Care Centre where he spent his final days. Their care and dedication helped all of us through a very difficult time.
A Memorial Service will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4th Street NW, Calgary, Alberta (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery), on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the Terry Fox Foundation.
