Vivian Pasloski
March 9, 1935 – April 21, 2018
Vivian Marie Pasloski passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on April 21, 2018, at the age of 83 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Karol and Mary Palchewich, her sisters, Mina Kowalchuk and Jean Sliwa and her children: Patricia, Barry and Claudette. Vivian is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Leonard, children: Emmanuel (Patricia), Trina (Gary) and Kiley (Maria), son-in-law, Barry Hilderman and her seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Vivian was born on March 9, 1935, in Canora, SK. She was the fifth of six children. She spent her childhood and youth on the family farm chasing after cattle and working alongside her mother to run the farm while the men were in the field. Vivian attended school in Woodhurst, Rama and Sturgis. She then began her career as a Dental Assistant in Canora, SK. She was also an amazing cook, talented seamstress and loved to dance. It was at the Valentine’s Dance in Rama, SK, where she met the love of her life. Leonard and Vivian were married in October 1955 and lived in town, in Rama, where they began their family. With three children in tow, they moved to the farm in 1966. Vivian took great pride in making their house a home and soon after two more children arrived to make their family complete. In addition to raising a wonderful family, she was actively involved in St. Anthony’s Parish and Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto. She was the first president of the CWL, the parish hall Event Coordinator and Kitchen Supervisor, a member of the choir and a eucharistic minister. She was also on the Board of Directors for Home Care, in Canora. Although she believed in giving back to her community, taking care of her family and the farm were her biggest priorities. She took great pride in growing a large garden, making perogies with her potatoes, cabbage rolls with her cabbage and the best borscht and beetniks with her beets. She and Leonard operated their own chicken production for many years involving their children and grandchildren. Whether it was her family or community, she instilled a hard work ethic and influenced all those around her Their home was always open to family and friends where they hosted many gatherings. Vivian had a knack for making everyone feel at home and turned every event into a celebration. Vivian enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her children, grand-children and great-grandchildren. Family gatherings meant everything to her. Vivian was a devoted and loving wife, mother, sister, Baba and friend.
Mom, you taught us the importance of family, faith and being kind to one another. We will miss you dearly. Until we meet again, may the Lord hold you in the palm of his hand.
