Obituary of Valentine Sealy
Valentine “Val” Mary Jean Sealy, 87 of Linden Alberta passed away on Saturday June 21st 2018. Val was born February 14th 1931 in East Bay Manitoba to her parents Jean Louis Berthaudin and Steny Jean (Bednarz) Berthaudin.
Val obtained her Bachelor of Pedagogy and Bachelor of Arts at the University of Manitoba and taught school Rainy River, McCreary, Dauphin, and Ste Rose until her retirement. Val married John Mackay Sealy on March 30th 1959 at the Methley Manitoba Catholic Church.
Val’s Catholicism was very important to her and she and John spent many hours volunteering at church functions. Val loved to garden, and had enough vegetables every year for her family and the rest of the community. Her home was always surrounded by beautiful flowers of every sort.
The most important part of Val’s life was her family. She spent countless hours drafting the family pictorial history that have been passed on to all of her brothers and sisters. Most dear to her heart was her daughters Maxine Anderson and Theresa Sealy. She loved to sew and made beautiful outfits to wear and costumes for Maxine and Theresa to use at horse shows. Val and John followed their daughters to Alberta in 1992 and spent the rest of their lives there.
Val is survived by her daughters Maxine (Ken) Anderson of Huxley Alberta, Theresa Sealy (Deryle Mullaney) of Didsbury Alberta, step grandchildren Shelley (Colin) Creasy, Dayna (Brendon) Feely, Robin (John) McCulloch, Cody Anderson, Karen Mullaney, Sean Mullaney, and Kelly Mullaney. She is survived by 3 step grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She is survived by her brothers Frank (Geraldine) Berthaudin, Marcel (Wanda) Berthaudin, and sisters Eugenie (Russell) Wycreschuk, and Elaine (Warren) Jackson and numerous nieces and nephews. Val is also survived by her dear little 4-legged friend Strawberry. Val was predeceased by her loving husband John Mackay Sealy , her parents Jean and Steny Berthaudin, and brothers John Berthaudin and Ernest Berthaudin.
