Surrounded with love, Terry Melanson of Saint John, NB passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday December 21, 2018. Born in Saint John, November 28, 1957 he was the son of Vera (Tonge) Stevenson and the late Allan Melanson. Terry was a Red Seal Plumber and a member of the 488 Pipe & Trades Union, Edmonton, AB,; working for many years at Suncor, Fort McMurray, AB retiring in 2016. Terry was an avid motorcyclist who loved road trips, traveling many miles across Canada and the US. H was the ultimate backyard mechanic and car enthusiast working on restoring his 56” Pontiac and driving his 1971 GMC motor coach (bus) from Alberta to New Brunswick this past summer.
He had a great love for music and jamming with people of all ages and especially with his Uncle Lenny. Terry loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, boating, quadding and snowmobiling with his buddies. Always ready for an adventure, he was an amazing storyteller with a great sense of humor always keeping friends and family laughing. Terry is survived by his loving partner of 17 years Deb Van Buskirk of Saint John; his parents Vera & Bob Stevenson of Port Greville, NS; sons Alexander Melanson (Leigh-Anne) of Abbotsford, BC and Christopher Melanson (Jennifer) of Maple Ridge, BC; daughter Ashely Melanson (Brian) of Mission, BC; stepchildren Robyn France (Jay) and David Van Buskirk (Kristyn) both of Fort McMurray, AB and Kari Kuempel (Mike) of St. Paul, MN and the love and fun of 11 grandchildren; his sister Brenda Chamberlain (Brain) of Nauwigewauk, NB; his brother Rob Stevenson (Micheline) of Moncton, NB; his nephew Travis Stevenson (Alysha Jamie); his niece Jennifer Stevenson (Craig) and great niece & nephew Jamie Lee and Kohen Stevenson; his aunts, uncles, many cousins and lifelong friends.
Terry was predeceased by his father Allan Melanson, his uncle George Getchell and nephew Dana Chamberlain.
Respecting Terry’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service. Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). In lieu of flowers donations in his memory can be made to the Saint John Regional Hospital Cardiac Care CCU and Palliative Care Units.
