Shirley Joyce Lockhart
1928-2018
Shirley Joyce Lockhart – 89, of Kentville, passed
away on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 in the Valley Regional Hospital,
Kentville. Born on December 8, 1928 in Halifax, she was a daughter of
the late Blair and Carrie (Dockrill) Williamson. She had been employed
as a nurse with the Civic Hospital, Halifax, the Nova Scotia
Sanatorium and the Miller Hospital in Kentville, from where she
retired. She was an active member of St. James Anglican Church,
Kentville, where she served with the Anglican Church Women and on
various committees. She was a faithful member of the exercise class at
Valley Regional Hospital for over a decade. She was also a member,
Past President and former Secretary of the New Horizon’s
Seniors Club. In 2014 Shirley received a Certificate of Achievement
and medal from the Joslin Diabetes Center for « living
courageously with diabetes for over 50 years ». She is survived by
a daughter, Sandra (Mark) Grant, Bedford; son J.C. Robert (Carolyn)
Lockhart, Plumweseep, New Brunswick; two grandchildren, Robb and
Bradley; two great grandchildren, Katie and Spencer; three brothers,
Blair (Arlene), Kingston; Vernon (Betty), Ontario and Allan,
Dartmouth; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband,
Keith. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held
from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, June 1, 2018 in the White Family Funeral
Home, Kentville. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be
held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at the St. James Anglican
Church, Kentville, Reverend Doctor John WR Roddam officiating. Burial
will take place in the Garden of Rest Cemetery – The
Anglican Parish of St. James, Kentville. Donations in memory may be
made to the St. James Anglican Church, the Canadian Diabetes
Association or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been
entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.
