JOINES, Sheila Jeanne (nee: Clark)
December 4, 1952 – January 31, 2018
It is with deep sadness we announce that Sheila passed away with her family by her side after a painful battle with cancer. She leaves behind her husband Bert, daughter Shelby (Keith), son Thomas, grandson Oakley; brothers Les and Terry (Marel); sisters Annie (Tony), Louise (Joe) as well as many nieces and nephews. Sheila was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Sheila grew up in Standard, AB. She graduated with a B.E.D from the U of C in 1977. Sheila started teaching English in Sangudo and Mayerthorpe, AB the same year where she met her husband Bert. She moved to Calgary in 1980 where she obtained her hair dressing license. In 1981 Sheila was hired by the CBE as a cosmetology teacher. She carried out that role for 34 years in Forest Lawn, Shawnessy, Central Memorial and Louise Dean high schools. She was a tremendous role model to all that she taught and knew. Students loved her class so much that many remained in contact with her over the years. Sheila was caring and generous to a fault, funny, the life of the party and always put others before herself. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends at parties, informal gatherings and camping. We wish to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and the Sarcee Hospice for the wonderful care she received. A Funeral Service will be held at Eden Brook Funeral Home on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers directly to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre (www.albertahealthservices.ca).
