Sharon Taylor
1946-2018
With sorrow, we announce the death of Sharon Alyce Taylor
in Dartmouth, NS on December 6, 2018.
Sharon
was born in New Glasgow, January 3, 1946, a daughter of the late
Pierce and Euda Taylor. She grew up in Trenton, NS and pursued a
career as a graduate of Nova Scotia Teacher’s College,
retiring after 32 years teaching elementary students in Canso,
Guysborough Co. and in Halifax County.
Always
in pursuit of better working standards and conditions for teachers,
she served on Halifax County Local as well as Provincial Exec.
Committees of the NSTU and with a keen interest in social and
political issues, Sharon volunteered her time in support of the Nova
Scotia NDP. She also enjoyed working on gardening
projects of Dartmouth Horticultural Society and at the Cole Harbour
Heritage Farm. Sharon had been a long-time volunteer with the Halifax
Jazz Festival. She was a loyal friend to many.
She
is survived by her sister, Sheila Taylor, Dartmouth; her brother,
Brian Taylor and sister-in-law, Peggy MacCormack,
Halifax.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2
pm on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 73 High
St., Trenton, NS. Memorial donations may be directed to Cole Harbour
Heritage Farm Museum (www.coleharbourfarmmuseum.ca) or
a charity of choice.
