OBITUARY
Severino (Sam) Piccinato
April 2, 1923 – December 18, 2018
It is with great sadness that the family of Severino “Sam” Piccinato, age 95 years, announces his passing on Tuesday December 18, 2018 at the LaVerendrye Hospital.
Sam was born on April 2, 1923 in Azzano Decimo, Italy to the late Vittorio and Albina Pizzinato.
He was united in marriage to Pierina Gasparet on April 26, 1947.
He immigrated to Canada on December 18, 1949, followed by his wife and son on February 2, 1951.
Sam worked as a union carpenter with various contractors in the district and continued doing so even after his retirement. He and his wife Pierina built their family home in Fort Frances which he resided in until the age of 95. Throughout his life Sam enjoyed going fishing, partridge hunting and camping. He loved to spend time tending his tomato plants and flower garden. He spent many hours in his workshop, crafting beautiful wooden bowls that were given to his family and friends and will be cherished forever. He had a passion for bowling and through this formed many lasting friendships. He carried out the Italian tradition of making wine with the help of his family. After the loss of his wife his family discovered he had quite a passion for cooking which included delicious homemade soups, spaghetti sauce and risotto which were enjoyed by many. His grandchildren and great grandchildren brought him the greatest joy. His face would light up whenever he saw them and he loved watching them and spending time with them when they visited.
Sam was predeceased by his wife Pierina, his parents and siblings.
Sam will be lovingly remembered and missed by his son, Noris (Sandy), grandchildren Gillian and Tyson; daughter Danila (David) Hoard, granddaughter Melissa (Richard) Cunnigham and great-grandchildren Xavier and Peyton, of Kakabeka Falls, granddaughter Tara (Domenic) Morelli and great grandchildren Sisily and William; daughter Liana (David) Khober of St. Albert, AB, granddaughter Bonnie (Richard) Gordon and great granddaughter Tia, grandson Michael (Cass) and great grandchildren Ella and Devin of Edson AB, grandson David Jr. (Betty) and great grandchildren Hayden and Kendall of Morinville, AB as numerous nieces and nephews.
