Sandro Colasacco February 25th 2018

With heavy hearts we announce Sandro’s passing after a year and a half long battle with head and neck cancer.
Sandro was born and raised in Timmins, Ontario. Upon graduation from the University of Western Ontario he fulfilled a lifelong dream of joining the RCMP. While training in Regina in 1986 he met his future wife Linda. They married in 1988 and have two children, Greg (24) and Lia (21). Sandro had a long and successful career with the force, serving as the Superintendent in charge of criminal intelligence for the province of BC upon his death. In 2005 he graduated from Royal Roads University with an M.A. in Leadership and Training.
Sandro was fiercely devoted to his family and proud of his Italian roots. In addition to his wife and children, he is survived his parents, Battista and Elsa, sister Tina, niece Alexa, Zia (aunt) Dema and Uncle Don along with many other beloved aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be missed also by Linda’s large family, including her parents Vi and Ed and her brother Allan and his family. A large circle of close friends also mourn his loss.
Sandro will be remembered for his strong work ethic, sense of humour, storytelling and listening skills and his keen interest in and knowledge of a wide variety of topics, especially pertaining to military history and politics. He loved good food, good wine, travelling, staying physically fit and being outdoors (as long as yard work was not involved).
The family would like to extend sincere thanks for the kind and compassionate care provided by family physicians Dr. Connie Ruffo and Dr. Jatinder Tiwana, surgeon Dr. Donald Anderson, the staff of the BC Cancer Agency Fraser Valley Centre, Dr. Hannah Nette and the rest of the staff at Inspire Health, Dr. Lindsay Adrian ND, Dr. Sonia Tan DTCM, Dr. Paul Klimo, and finally Dr. Andrew Collins and the rest of the staff and volunteers at Peace Arch Hospice who made Sandro’s final days so wonderful. Special thanks to family friend Dr. Mildred Chang for all the medical advice and assistance she provided.
Please contact a family member or RCMP colleague for details regarding Sandro’s celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, donations to Inspire Health Supportive Cancer Care Agency, Ride2Survive or Peace Arch Hospice in Sandro’s name are greatly appreciated.
“The greatest gift to the dead is not grief but gratitude.”
-Thornton Wilder, American playwright and novelist
