Rudolph Poelzer of Edmonton Alberta Nov 16 1925 Jun 7 2018

On Thursday, June 7, 2018 Rudolph “Rudy” Poelzer of Edmonton, Alberta, beloved father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away at the age of 92 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Jim (Emir) and Gerald; grandchildren, Kurt (Cathy Schultz), Lori (Neil Fairbairn), Lindsay (Michael Gustavsson), Michael (Janelle Stang), and Megan (Tim Barber); great grandchildren, Ruby, Simon, Dylan, Kieran, Brady, Hanna, Brecken, Jaxxen, and Mannex; sisters, Anne Harvey, Ruth (Gordon) Henderson; and brother, Bob Poelzer.
Rudy was predeceased by his beloved wife, Genevieve “Genny” of 69 years; sister, Grace Gordon; and brother, Bill Poelzer.
Rudy exemplified family values, lovingly caring for this wife until she died. He was always there whenever you needed him, whether it was helping with family, shoveling a walk or supporting at baseball games. His kindness and gentleness to those around him not only made him a wonderful grandfather, but a great neighbour as well. His good humour and attention to detail will be missed by all.
He was born and raised in Humboldt, Saskatchewan, where he met and married Genny. They moved to Edmonton, where they raised their two sons. Rudy enjoyed a long career with AGT (Alberta Government Telephones AKA Telus) and was a strong member of the Wellington Community where he lived for over 50 years.
A time of visitation for family and friends will take place on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the Connelly-McKinley St. Albert Funeral Home, 9 Muir Drive, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 2:00pm. Interment to follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
