Ruben Arthur Tibbo
November 16, 1949 – December 25, 2018
Age 69 of Dartmouth passed away on December 25, 2018 at the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Antigonish on November 16, 1949, he was the son of the late Rhoda Pearl (Pye) and John Tibbo.
Ruben grew up in Spanish Ship Bay and moved to the Dartmouth area for work at a young age. He was well known by many for always putting his soul into any work he did. He retired from Superior Propane after several years to work at Fader Agencies until his diagnosis. His work ethic and determination was highlighted even more when he fought tirelessly through his illness to continue visiting and spending time with his family. He loved going around the city and down the shore to see those he loved in the only automobile that would be fitting for someone with his work ethic and reliability, a Toyota.
Ruben was loved by anyone that met him. He radiated positivity, love, and humour to all he knew. He always had a « Hi Buddy » and a story for everyone. He loved to laugh and play jokes on people. He was always the first person to help anyone that needed a hand with anything.
He is survived by his partner, Phyllis, sister Eva (Wayne) Cruickshank, brothers Foster (Roseanne), Weston (Debbie) and Lewis (Ardith) sister-in-law Sharon, nephews Shawn, Trevor, Darius, Blaine, Joel, Robby and Chad, nieces Stacy and Laura, God daughter, Cathy Noseworthy, several great nephews and great nieces and many friends, as well as Mitchell Ferguson, who was like a son to him. He was predeceased by his parents and brother Henry.
A memorial gathering will be held at A. L. Mattatal Funeral Home 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth, NS. on Sunday December 30th from 1-4pm for friends and loved ones to share memories and laughs together. Private interment of cremains will take place at a later date. Donations in Ruben’s memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, Bide Awhile, St. Luke’s Anglican Church Liscomb or any charity of your choice.
