Rosella Thelma Pearl (Kennie) Collier
1926-2018
It is with heavy hearts that we express the passing of
Rosella Thelma Pearl (Kennie) Collier, 91, of Kenneth E. Spencer
Memorial Home, Moncton and formerly of Alma. She passed away
peacefully on January 16, 2018 at the home with her family by her
side.
She was born in Little Ridge, Albert County on August 7th,
1926 the daughter of the late Harden and Inez (McManus)
Kennie. She worked at Crosbys Molasses Company in Saint
John; Kelly’s Bake Shop in Alma; The Clubhouse Restaurant and swimming
pool canteen in Fundy National Park; Maples Canteen in
Riverside-Albert and Fundy Take out in Alma where she became manager
until her retirement. Being a great cook, she loved to bake
bread and rolls, donuts; plus make pickles, jams and
jellies. She was also a wonderful quilter and took great
pride in every stitch. She enjoyed travelling and got to see
Newfoundland and Niagara Falls with her family. She also
took a bus tour to Nashville with her granddaughter, Charlene and
daughter, Carol in 1989. Not having an easy life, she never
complained, making sure she went to church and always believing in
God. Her faith got her through life’s ups and downs. Today
she dances with the angels.
She will be sadly missed by son, George Collier (Sandra) of
Riverview; daughters, Carol Ross of Alma; Darlene Collier of
Germantown; grandchildren, Robert and Jeffrey Collier of Riverview,
Charlene Butland (Tim) of Hopewell Hill, Jonathan Ross (Ashley) of
Alma, Charles Griffith (Tina) of Moncton and Devin Griffith of
Vancouver, BC; great grandchildren, Michael, Justin and Tori Collier,
Daytona Ogilvie, Bryan Upham, Dylan, Hunter, Garrett and Sawyer
Butland, Seth and Alan Griffith, Connor Ross, Natasha and Dayna
Davidson, Natasha Collier (Josh), Shannon Layton (Caleb), Emily
Butland (Zac); great granddaughters, Veronica Layton and Kaydence
Collier. She will also be missed by numerous nieces and
nephews.
Our Heavenly Father reached down and lifted her up to be
with him and all of her family members that have gone before
her. Besides her parents she was also predeceased by her
husband and best friend, Henry Collier in 1970. She was the
last surviving member of her immediate family of 14.
Honouring the family’s wishes there will be no
visitation. A Celebration of her life will be held
at the Albert County Funeral Home on Sunday, January, 21st, 2018 at
2:00pm with Rev. Carol Mullin officiating. The family will
be meeting following the service for further fellowship and for
refreshments at the funeral home. Interment will be held in
the Hopewell Cemetery, Hopewell Hill, NB at a later
date.
Rosella had a love of children and animals therefore in
lieu of flowers, donations to the IWK Children’s Hospital Foundation ,
the SPCA or charity of the donor’s choice would be greatly
appreciated.
Arrangements are in the care of the Albert County Funeral
Home, 4130 Route 114, Hopewell Cape, NB, E4H-3K2
