Robert James Murphy
Murphy, Robert James “Rocky” age 81 of Dartmouth, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rocky on August 8th, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Eileen and Raymond Murphy.
Throughout his life, he was an avid Leafs and Blue Jays fan. He loved to play cribbage (always throw out the end cards), bowling, and he fulfilled moms passion for gardening. Above all else, his main passion was for his family and especially his grandchildren. He worked at the HMCS Dockyard as a Mechanical Fitter for 40 years.
Rocky is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Barbara, daughters; Teri (Brent) Publicover, Heather (Wilf) Jones, Cathy (Jim) Murphy, and Cheryl (Jason) Brown, grandchildren; Brian (Lindsay), Corey (Danielle), Derek (Anna), Kyle, Nicholas, Catelyn, and Ben, great-grandchildren; Keaton, Ryan, Alivia, Casey, and Everly, brothers; Raymond (Leona) and Edward, sister; Linda and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters and two brothers.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Atlantic Funeral Home 771 Main St., Dartmouth from 7:00pm-9:00pm on Monday August 13th, 2018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Saint Thomas More Roman Catholic Church at 11:00am Tuesday August 14th, 2018. Father Toochukwu Okafor officiating. Reception in the church hall following the service, with interment in the Dartmouth Memorial Gardens following the reception.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the VON, the Palliative Care Team, and Bayshore Home Care. The biggest thanks of all to Rocky’s daughter, Cathy, for everything that she has done for her mom and dad.
