Obituary for
Robert Earle Abrahams
Abrahams, Robert (Bob) October 11, 1948 – September 22, 2018
Passed away at the age of 69 at Michael Garron Hospital in Toronto, after a courageous battle with cancer. Evidently, heaven needed another angel and Bob answered the call.
Loving husband and best friend to Brenda (nee Charlebois) for over 22 years, Bob will be dearly missed by his siblings, nieces, nephews and many extended family members and friends. Bob was pre-deceased by his father Dudley and mother Gloria (nee Murray).
He was born in Annotto Bay Jamaica and moved to Canada at the age of 12. From a very young age, he had a passion for music (particularly jazz) and over the years he amassed a large and varied collection of CDs, 45’s and LP’s. Basketball was clearly Bob’s favourite sport and anyone who knew him knew not to dare call him during “March Madness”. However he enjoyed watching many sports, especially his Dallas Cowboys. Bob was a very fashionable man and loved the finer things in life from fine clothes to a good single malt scotch.
Bob believed strongly in the celebration and support of family and enjoyed the company of family and friends. He had a diary of birthdays and never failed to make a phone call on everyone’s special day. He was a fierce and loyal friend who took pleasure in helping others tackle and demystify daunting obstacles. When you met Bob you quickly became aware of his optimistic nature, iron will and clear and pragmatic thought. His radiant smile could light a room. He made you feel special. Most who met him never forgot him or his sense of humour. He was a knowledgeable guy who could talk to anyone about almost anything and always enjoyed the verbal sparring.
Private cremation has taken place and a celebration of Bob’s life is being considered for a later date.
In lieu of flowers or charitable donations, Bob would most appreciate that you raise a glass in a toast to him.
Order Flowers
