Obituary for Rita Mavis Turner (Farley)
Turner, Rita Mavis (nee Farley) died peacefully on December 4, 2018, at the age of 98.
Rita was born and raised in Montreal. She married Frank Turner in 1943 and together they had 6 children.
During their life together, they traveled around the world. For most of their retirement years, they were “snowbirds”, as they maintained homes in both Holiday, Florida and Kitchener, Ontario.
Rita and Frank were avid bridge players, active in the Catholic Church and thoroughly enjoyed socializing with many friends in both Florida and Kitchener. Throughout her life, Rita devoted herself to the care and attention of her children, 7 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren.
Rita is survived by her children, Kevin (Gail), Gerald, Russell and Laureen (Tim) . Predeceased by her sons Brendan (Hedy) and Peter (Susan). Rita will be fondly remembered by her Grandchildren: Christopher, Shawn (Karina), Leisha (John), Jacquelyn, Shannon (Raul), Sean and Kyle and her Great Grandchildren: Haley, Sage, Connor, Emma, Cecilia, Kallie, Maxwell and Mason.
Funeral services will take place at Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, Ontario, N2B2A5, on Thursday December 6, 2018 from 3:30-6:30pm. A small reception will take place. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Grand River Hospital Foundation-Palliative Care Unit would be appreciated by the family (cards available through the Henry Walser Funeral Home, Kitchener, 519-749-8467).
