Passed away peacefully on April 29, 2018 in the Palliative Care Unit of the VG Site QEII. Reg was born on September 1, 1943in Vancouver BC, the son of the late Philip and Florence Stuart. He contracted polio as a child. In the hours of his forced leisure he played with toy soldiers which sparked his interest in history. His greatest accomplishment as dean was spearheading the creation of a new laboratory and teaching facilities for the science faculty. After his service as dean he returned to teaching, he was the author of eight books and won numerous prizes for teaching, research and scholarship. His proudest achievement was a Fulbright Fellowship which allowed him to spend six months at the Woodrow Wilson International Centre for Scholars in Washington, DC. When he was not working he loved to travel and to play and to officiate at tennis at the Waegwoltic Club. He was a n avid collector of model soldiers and science fiction DVDs. Reg loved his collection of hats and was notable on campus for his array of dashing head gear. He was a loyal and generous friend with a wonderful sense of humour.
