Death Notice
It is with deeply saddened hearts that the family of Rebecca Anne Barr announces her sudden passing on Monday, March 5, 2018 in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico at the age of 60. Beloved wife and best friend of Rob Metcalfe for 28 years. Dear sister of Deborah Barr and Cindy Barr (Charlie Lefebvre). Special Aunt of Robbie Redmond (Titia), Elisha (Rodney) Richard and Kenny (Heather) Redmond and Jill Organ. Great-Aunt to Jaimelynn McIntyre (Brett), Bobby Redmond, Ella Richard and Seth Redmond. Rebecca will be missed by her sisters-in-law Lori and Pam Metcalfe (Rick) and by her many friends. Predeceased by her parents James Barr and Joan (Ivan) Squire. Rebecca was the proud owner and operator of the Aft Cabin Restaurant in Sombra for 14 years until she retired in 2017. Her high energy, strong work ethic and constant drive for perfection not only satisfied her customers, but taught many of her young staff valuable life lessons.She positively impacted the young women that worked for her and was true mentor to her ever-changing, young staff. Family was always number one to Rebecca. She was forever thoughtful of everyone. She loved to entertain friends and family and always made sure that everyone was having a good time with good food. She truly had a very caring, big heart full of love that she shared endlessly. Rebecca had a love for all life big and small – everything from insects to wildlife to her beloved dogs. Rebecca enjoyed summers along the St. Clair River, boating or fishing, and always looked forward to getting away to Cabo, Mexico in the winter. She was always laughing and visiting with friends or enjoying reading a good book. Rebecca will be extremely missed by the many lives she touched. Family and friends will be received on Friday, March 16, 2018 at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00- 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm. on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Smith Funeral Home. A private family interment will be held at Moore Union Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held following Rebecca’s memorial service. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Sarnia and District Humane Society, Lambton Wildlife Inc, Bluewater Centre for Raptor Rehabilitation or Heaven’s Wildlife Rescue Rehabilitation & Education Centre (cheques only at the funeral home please).
Visitation
Family and friends will be received on Friday, March 16, 2018 at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00- 8:00 p.m.
Service
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm. on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Smith Funeral Home. A private family interment will be held at Moore Union Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held following Rebecca’s memorial service.
