Obituary of Phyllis (Allen) Tower
Port Elgin, N.B.- It is with deep sadness that we must announce the passing of Phyllis Tower on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the Westford Nursing Home in Port Elgin. Phyllis passed away on her 92nd birthday with her loving and faithful friend, Olga Bateman holding her hands as she went peacefully on her journey.
Born on February 24, 1926 in Port Elgin, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Sarah May (Climo) and Chandler Allen.
Phyllis started out her vocation as a teacher in Dorchester at the Elementary School, was employed at Eaton’s and she retired from International Harvester in Hamilton, Ontario. She was a loving, caring, sharing and jolly lady who enjoyed travelling, playing her fiddle, Hawaiian guitar, dancing, yodelling and playing cards. The last instrument Phyllis played was the spoons and she was very talented with them. Phyllis loved people and she will be missed by all who knew and cared for her.
Phyllis will be lovingly remembered by her several nieces and nephews as well as by a special couple, Harold and Iris Watson of Hamilton, Ontario.
Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by her 2 brothers, Lloyd Allen and Lee Allen as well as by her 4 sisters, Margaret Cameron, Rhona MacKenzie, Ella Sprague and Grace Nicholson.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (506) 364-8188. In keeping with Phyllis’s wishes, there will be no visiting hours or funeral service. A burial will take place in the spring in the Fernwood Cemetery, Port Elgin, N.B.
