OBITUARY
Philip Kenneth Thibeau
9 July , 1926 – 5 May , 2018
It is with great sadness that the family of Philip Kenneth Thibeau announce his passing at age 91. Phil passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Kelowna General Hospital, with his family by his side. He will fondly be remembered and sadly missed by his beloved wife of 42 years, Leah Thibeau (Mitchell) and his sons, Robert Thibeau and Joel Thibeau and daughters Sharon Leung, Brenda Vokes, Darcy Ward, Carmel Meldrum, Rita Kirsch and Janelle Moffat. Phil is also predeceased by his sisters Doris Carrier and Lorraine McIntyre, 20 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren, with one on the way and one Great-Great grandson. Phil was born on July 9th, 1926, the youngest child born to Joseph and Marguerite Thibeau. He was born in St. Stephen, New Brunswick and resided there until bravely enlisting himself in the army at the young age of 17 (1944). He was wounded by bomb fragments in 1945 while serving in the Canadian Army. He returned home in 1946 at the age of 19. Phil was later honored with the Liberation of Holland Medal. Phil worked for 17 years as a well loved and highly respected, nursing orderly at K.G.H and continued to work in the community for six years after retirement as a care aid. We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the nurses and doctors on ward 6 west at K.G.H for the quality of care they showed Phil during the final days of his life, allowing him to pass with dignity. A Celebration of Life for Phil will be on Wednesday, May 16th at 10:00 am at First Memorial, located at 1211 Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna. Close family will then meet at Lakeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery for inurnment at 1:00 pm.
