On Saturday July7, 2018, Henry Wacowich (formerly Redwater) passed away at the age of 103 years.
A beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend to many, he will be missed by all.
His memory will be lovingly cherished by his son Ken (Verna Gill): daughter, Linda (Robert) Cowherd; grandchildren: Jody (Brent Lohner), Susan, Lea, and Brenda (Andrew) Choney-Thompson and Sharon Choney; three great grandchildren; Brynnleigh, Eryn and Ryley Lohner. Henry will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews and friends especially the Good Sam Rovers Club.
Henry was predeceased by his wife, Stella in 2017, and previously all his brothers and sisters.
Henry was born and raised in Opal, Alberta. He married Stella Venerski from Bruderheim in 1942 and together they raised two children. They made a living running a busy mixed farm and actively participated in the Redwater Community and County of Thorhild. He was instrumental in the creation of the ERA for the area, was a County Councillor supporting the construction of the Vinca Bridge in 1967, active in curling, snowmobiling, and enjoyed travel. In 1972, Henry and Stella, retired to Edmonton leaving the dairy and beef cattle, grain, hay, chickens and general farming. He started as a Lease Field hand for Gustavson Arctic Drilling from 1974 – 1979 then to Control Drilling until Jan 1982. Joined the Rovers Good Sam RV club sharing many trips, camping outings and general holidays with Stella, also travelling to whatever sport or competition the grandchildren were involved in. He enjoyed and supported all the grand and great grandchildren over many years.
