It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our brother, uncle, papa, Pete Crow. Pete passed quietly into the spirit world at the Kenora Birchwood nursing home. Pete is predeceased by his wife Isabel Cowley and parents Albert and Kathleen Crow, brothers David Crow, George/Lorna Crow, Joe Crow, Mido Crow, and Bobby Namaypoke; sisters Ada/Don Morrison, Josephine/Bob Star, Alberta/John Elders, Mary/Bob Elders, and Nora May Crow; nephew Joe Morrison and niece Diane Crow.
Left to mourn his passing are his brothers, Johnny Namaypoke (Glenda), Roy Crow, Allan Crow (Phyllis); sisters Lulubelle Namaypoke, Theresa Crow, Betty Crow. He will also be missed by his niece-in-law Mary Alice Smith, his brother-in-law Fred Cowley and sister-in-law Mary Cowley; and a great many more relatives.
Pete worked as a lumberjack for most of his life; and he worked in a saw mill for a number of years. Pete also is a survivor of the residential school system; he attended the Cecilia Jeffrey School in Kenora to the day he turned seventeen. He was a singer in the traditional powwows. In recent times Pete took part in the Naotkamegwanning community cultural camp where the youth are taught the Native ways of life. He was an avid bingo player; we will miss our friend Peter.
We want to acknowledge our appreciation to the Birchwood Terrace Nursing Home for the care they provided for our brother; and to the Chief and Council, Health office, and the Education for their support in our time of need, miigwech, thank you.
The wake will be at the Netaawgonebiik Health Center on Monday July 16, 2018: Conducting a Traditional Midewiin Funeral Ceremony will be Mide Ki’wenzie Peter White on Tuesday July 17, 2018.
